4. Schedule House Shopping Appointment

Start by reviewing their buyer portal with them and select properties for them to view. While discussing their needs and wants, you will get a better idea of the features and type of house they prefer.

Go over their search criteria with them. Help them be realistic and narrow down their search. As you pull up each property, discuss the pros and cons. Encourage them to continue using the MLS buyer portal, marking their favorite properties, and driving by them.

Set up a tentative date and time for the house shopping appointment. The appointment should be 2-3 days in the future. You need time to select their top properties and schedule showings, but also you don’t want to schedule it very far in the future. The best time to view houses is weekdays during the daylight. In the evening when it’s dark early, you may have to wait until the weekend. They should allow at least 3 to 4 hours for home shopping, and they need to arrange for child care.
